Oregon & Washington the Last Leg of the Northwest!

Another leg down! This one started out across the highland desert of eastern Oregon in mid August. My first stop was in Bend at the Union Gospel Mission called The Shepherd's House where I met one of the volunteers. Don accepted 85 books to be used in their ministry! then it was on toward the coast.

My sister and her two girls helped me navigate the "Big City". In one day we dropped 400 copies of "Skies Are Not Cloudy All Day" off at UGM of Salem Mission Store where I met Aaron Eggers. Then it was off to Portland to the Portland Rescue Mission where I gave them 85 books.

The Union Gospel Mission of Portland accepted 1 book, The Salvation Army USA Women's Shelter took 20 for their library and bible studies. The folks at Portland Rescue Mission were very helpful and suggested dropping off some books at Cityteam Portland. Everyone was very friendly there and invited me for lunch. I gave them 85 books to be used in their drug/alcohol rehab ministry.
The following day my niece and I maneuvered our way to the Eugene Mission where I made a SWEET trade!!! 50 copies of my book for some of their incredible honey!! My 13 year old niece and I celebrated afterwards with a game of cribbage where she promptly skunked me!

I left Corvallis and heading north on Sunday where I interrupted the service at the Lewis County Gospel Mission. I joined the tail end of their service. those guys were awesome! They accepted 255 books and told me that they would get them in to the surrounding churches, prison, and jail ministries that they were associated with. Phil referred me to Set Free in Elma, WA. where I left a case of books.

I drove around the Olympic peninsula and took in the scenery to try to prepare myself for the larger cities of Washington. I spent the night in Port Angeles and got an early start heading south to Kitsap Rescue Mission where I connected with Walt. He came alongside and offered to take a couple of cases of books to Bread of Life Mission and Seattle's Union Gospel Mission.

After leaving Kitsap Rescue Mission I headed south to the Rescue mission Adams street family campus where I dropped off a case of books to be used in their Transitional Housing / Women's ministries. They were very nice and a lot of fun!

Then it was on down to the Olympia Union Gospel Mission where I met Cody Howard, director of street ministries. What a great guy! He has such a heart for the homeless! I left the last of the books that I had brought with me... on this leg with Cody.

When I was in Colorado Springs on the previous leg I had the pleasure of meeting with AGRM President John Ashman and his staff. Christine Matos introduced me to everyone. She has been so helpful! I met with Brad and was able to place an ad in the AGRM Street Smart where Chaplain Tom Beatty contacted me from New Life Corrections in Illinois. He is in charge of the jail and prison ministries of over 30 facilities! Bonnie sent a case of books to him as well as to
Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan.

Yesterday I sent off 30 books to my friend Connie for distribution to the Rescue Missions/Women's shelters in Anchorage.

I added up the total books that have been given away as of today it stands at 7,836 books to Rescue Missions, Chemical Addiction Facilities, Prison, Jail, Halfway Transitional Housing, Street Ministries and Churches etc. Since March the books have been distributed in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Texas, and a few in Tennessee and Alabama. Now to get ready for the UGRM conventions in Salt Lake and Coeur d Alene! God is so Good!!!
