Fall 2015

It's been a pretty exciting fall. Through the distribution of the book Skies Are Not Cloudy All Day, I met a amazing lady in Louisiana. We spoke on the phone and after hearing her testimony I decided to go to Louisiana to meet her. Her name is Karen Simmons and her testimony was included in a book called Backyard Miracles by Sharon Holman. The proceeds are used to plant churches through Bethany's ...Church program, Surge. Karen is also know as the "Cookie Lady" who makes the "Jesus Cookies". I have tasted them and they are REALLY GOOD! She donates them to the Mission Café at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Proceeds from cookie sales goes to missions. If you get a chance, pick some of these up! She has since been up to visit me in Idaho... I believe that meeting her was a divine appointment that I am truly thankful for!

Oregon & Washington the Last Leg of the Northwest!

Another leg down! This one started out across the highland desert of eastern Oregon in mid August. My first stop was in Bend at the Union Gospel Mission called The Shepherd's House where I met one of the volunteers. Don accepted 85 books to be used in their ministry! then it was on toward the coast.

My sister and her two girls helped me navigate the "Big City". In one day we dropped 400 copies of "Skies Are Not Cloudy All Day" off at UGM of Salem Mission Store where I met Aaron Eggers. Then it was off to Portland to the Portland Rescue Mission where I gave them 85 books.

The Union Gospel Mission of Portland accepted 1 book, The Salvation Army USA Women's Shelter took 20 for their library and bible studies. The folks at Portland Rescue Mission were very helpful and suggested dropping off some books at Cityteam Portland. Everyone was very friendly there and invited me for lunch. I gave them 85 books to be used in their drug/alcohol rehab ministry.
The following day my niece and I maneuvered our way to the Eugene Mission where I made a SWEET trade!!! 50 copies of my book for some of their incredible honey!! My 13 year old niece and I celebrated afterwards with a game of cribbage where she promptly skunked me!

I left Corvallis and heading north on Sunday where I interrupted the service at the Lewis County Gospel Mission. I joined the tail end of their service. those guys were awesome! They accepted 255 books and told me that they would get them in to the surrounding churches, prison, and jail ministries that they were associated with. Phil referred me to Set Free in Elma, WA. where I left a case of books.

I drove around the Olympic peninsula and took in the scenery to try to prepare myself for the larger cities of Washington. I spent the night in Port Angeles and got an early start heading south to Kitsap Rescue Mission where I connected with Walt. He came alongside and offered to take a couple of cases of books to Bread of Life Mission and Seattle's Union Gospel Mission.

After leaving Kitsap Rescue Mission I headed south to the Rescue mission Adams street family campus where I dropped off a case of books to be used in their Transitional Housing / Women's ministries. They were very nice and a lot of fun!

Then it was on down to the Olympia Union Gospel Mission where I met Cody Howard, director of street ministries. What a great guy! He has such a heart for the homeless! I left the last of the books that I had brought with me... on this leg with Cody.

When I was in Colorado Springs on the previous leg I had the pleasure of meeting with AGRM President John Ashman and his staff. Christine Matos introduced me to everyone. She has been so helpful! I met with Brad and was able to place an ad in the AGRM Street Smart where Chaplain Tom Beatty contacted me from New Life Corrections in Illinois. He is in charge of the jail and prison ministries of over 30 facilities! Bonnie sent a case of books to him as well as to
Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan.

Yesterday I sent off 30 books to my friend Connie for distribution to the Rescue Missions/Women's shelters in Anchorage.

I added up the total books that have been given away as of today it stands at 7,836 books to Rescue Missions, Chemical Addiction Facilities, Prison, Jail, Halfway Transitional Housing, Street Ministries and Churches etc. Since March the books have been distributed in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Texas, and a few in Tennessee and Alabama. Now to get ready for the UGRM conventions in Salt Lake and Coeur d Alene! God is so Good!!!

The Third Leg -

This leg consisted of Southern Idaho from Pocatello across southern Wyoming to Cheyenne and south to Denver to Colorado Springs and then over to Slat Lake.
On my way to Denver I stopped by Aid For Friends Inc. 1984 in Pocatello, Idaho where I gave 250 copies of my book. The women I met there were extremely kind and helpful. I hope my book will touch the community of Pocatello through them. I appreciate their assistance in distributing "The Skies Are Not Cloudy All Day".

While I was in Colorado, my friend Bonnie and I went to The Crossing at Denver Rescue Mission where we met with Pastor Lon Gregg. He and Pastor Bill Roscoe, from the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, worked together in forming the Harvest Farm Ministries in Denver. The Harvest Farm Ministries include men's rehabilitation, youth camp, corn maze and community outreach programs. We delivered 100 books to this ministry.

My friend Bonnie and I stopped by Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday and met Pastor David Packiam where we dropped off 85 copies of Skies Are Not Cloudy All Day. He and I had a similar calling to drop everything to serve the Lord and that is how he came to Colorado Springs. It was very inspiring to visit with this kind man. He truly has a heart for the homeless. I was very fortunate to have Bonnie as my pilot in Denver. It made getting to these places so much less stressful and a little more fun.

After church on Sunday I left Bonnie's place in Denver and headed back towards Boise to get more books. I still had a few in my truck so on the way I drove through Salt Lake City. Big cities stress me right out! It was Sunday night and it seemed like everyone and their dog was headed back into town at 90 MPH. My intention was to find a place to spend the night before getting into town but somehow fell into the middle of the stream of traffic and before you know it I was in downtown Salt Lake.
There were roads going in all sorts of directions! I finally bailed off the interstate and saw a Ramada Inn. I went in to check out a room and the gal at the front desk was from Somalia. Her name was Rowda and she had a great sense of humor. I gave her a book to read through the night when it slowed down. She was able to get through half of it and left me a note saying that she really enjoyed it and asked for a few extra books to send back to her family.

8 o'clock traffic in Salt Lake kind of freaked me out a bit so I tried to get to the mission a little before the traffic got nuts. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the exit I took the previous night just so happened to be down the road between the two gospel missions! I was a bit early at the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake so I sat in on their morning bible study. That was quite enlightening and after listening to some of their comments I came away with a different perspective of what these people are going through. Chris Croswhite the executive Director of Rescue Mission of Salt Lake took 400 books to use in their ministry.

Afterwards I stopped by the Salt Lake City Mission a few miles away where pastor Wayne Wilson is the CEO along with his wife Monica. I visited with them for the better part of an hour and left 185 books with them to be used in their men's ministry as well as jail and prison ministries'.
Total number of books distributed on this leg was 1,720, A majority went to Rescue Missions, prison and jail ministry for both men and women to be distributed through their housing programs, addiction treatment programs, bible studies and for all around encouragement to let these people know that no matter where you are at Jesus is there with YOU and He loves YOU so much!.

The Second Leg, The Last Week of July

Katherine and I at the Jubilee House Women's Shelter in Twin Falls

Had a really good week. This was the second leg and I started off going to Twin Falls and met with Katherine at the Jubilee House which is a shelter for women in Twin. after that I went over to meet with Pastor Tony who runs the Victory House in Twin Falls. He wasn't in but I had a good visit with a couple of his assistants pictured below.

The Victory House in Twin Falls

Then it was on to Idaho Falls Rescue Mission where I met with Rene Lopez. He told me some of his testimony. The Lord has done some work on that one! He is a great guy. I dropped 340 books off there, They have missions for men, women, married families, and a addiction counseling center.

Rene Lopez and I at the City Refuge Mission in Idaho Falls, Idaho

After that I headed to Wyoming. I tried to find the Rescue Mission in Jackson Hole but there were like a billion people everywhere and that truck I was driving was like driving a tank. After driving around in circles a few times I decided to move on towards Dubois, where I met a gal at the thrift store. I visited with her for a little bit and left 25 books for her. She said she would gladly distribute them to the local churches and the small shelter they had in town. That night I stayed in Riverton, Wyoming. I had heard rumors in Dubois that the previous week some guy decided that he didn't care too much for the street people and decide to start shooting at them. He shot and killed one man and left the city and actually the state of Wyoming distraught. Every place in Wyoming I stopped at suggested that I leave books in Riverton and I did. I left them at the Good Samaritan Mission, Volunteers of America, and the Set Free Church for transitional housing for ex inmates. In Casper I dropped off 85 books to the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission. Wednesday night I stayed with a friend Jane and Rod. It was nice to catch up with them. They agreed to take books to the shelter over in Gillette and other local locations. It is sure nice to have friends that come along side and help with the distribution!!
The next day I went to the Montana Rescue Mission in Billings where I met with Perry Roberts and Glenn Fournier. That was a great visit. I left them 85 books and they referred me to the mission in Great Falls where I wanted to meet with Jim Keiser.

Jim McCormick and I at the Great Falls Mission

Due to time restraints I met with Jim McCormick instead leaving them 170 books to be used in their ministry.

Candice Day and I at the Union Gospel Mission in Missoula.
The photo was taken by Anna Schreck.

The next day I was in Missoula and ended up at the Union Gospel Mission women's shelter. I met with Candice Day and Anna Schreck. They were awesome and we had a great visit. Candice gave me a tour of the facility and Anna, bless here heart, helped me out with my Facebook page. I gave them 85 books.
I am very fortunate to have some really good friends that are helping out. Amy in Texas, Eileen in the Tri Cities area of Eastern Washington, Ronnett and Gloria in the Caldwell, Bonnie in the Denver area, Pastor Mike in Boise, Roger in Boise, June in Boise, Eastern Oregon, Wyoming and Montana, Nick in Sandpoint, Jane and Rod in Wyoming, Whitney in Eastern Oregon. I am sure I am missing a few but there are so many I don't even know their names. Like the gal I met in Dubois, Wyoming. The Lord is really using the body of Christ on this!!!

On the second leg of the Eastern Idaho, Wyoming and Montana tour I was able to give a total of 1,354 books to missions, halfway houses, prison ministries and multiple individuals that the Lord brought into my path. It was a very good week!

Will add photos when I get to Denver... for some reason I cannot upload photos to the blog from a motel room.

Sunday July 26th 2015

I met an amazing young lady this last weekend. Her name is Whitney Wilber and for her Senior Project she has chosen to direct the 2015 Rodeo Bible Camp in Union, OR. This "Senior Project" is required for all seniors at Imbler High School. Her folks, Dale and Rene Wilber have been involved in this ministry for around 15 years so this is not new to her and she has the belt buckles to back it up.

Rodeo Bible Camp is designed to help teens ages 13-18 learn about and broaden their relationship with Jesus while working on their rodeo event. In years past this event has touched many young men and women and brought them to a loving relationship with Jesus as well as promote Rodeo. This years camp will be August 10-13 and will be located at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show grounds in Union, OR. Rodeo Bible Camp is known for its positive atmosphere and incredible staff of volunteers and each year includes some big name rodeo personalities.

Rusty Iron Ranch donated 85 books to this years Rodeo Bible Camp and their volunteers. I encourage you to check out their website and please support this event put on by the Northeast Oregon Christian Cowboys. This is a non profit organization for those looking for a tax deduction. For more information call Whitney at (541)534-4065 or go online rodeobiblecamp.org

First Leg Complete! On to the Next!

This first little journey up through the center of Idaho and around the Inland Northwest was awesome. I met so many awesome people this week and the Lord blessed this trip by opening doors to meet new friends. I gave away a total of 1450 books to a variety of people.
I am back in Boise to load up another batch of books for the next leg. I met with Pastor Mike and Roger, a buddy of mine, for lunch the other day. They are so encouraging and it was nice to touch base with them.
Cowgirl missed me pretty bad on this last trip. I probably missed her more! She barked for about half an hour when I got home and wrapped her paws around my leg growling and barking. I got the point. She does not like being left at home. Sure wish it wasn't so hot so I could taker her with me!
I am still not sure which direction I am going next at this point. It is looking like I might head to LaGrande to meet with Dale and Renae who do a Rodeo Bible camp. He has come alongside to help distribute the books at the camp. Will post more as God reveals the direction to me!
